Joe and I had a good windsurf session from the Golf Course Car Park, Borth today. I got there around 12.30pm and rigged a 6.3m sail and my Fanatic Cross 100 while Joe rigged his 6m. The wind was WNW and there was a waist high messy swell which provided perfect conditions for jumping on the way out and wave-riding on the way in. There was plenty of wind, plenty of waves and even the sun was shining. Joe soon decided that he was overpowered so went in to change down to a 5.7m sail. I only had a few hours to spare on the water so decided to make the most of my time and stay out with the big kit. Besides, I was too lazy to walk all the way back up the beach and re-rig.

Joe came back out and was still well powered up with his smaller sail, so decided to go back in again and change to his smaller board as well. It was getting later now, so I still stayed out with the big kit. The sun was quite low in the sky and its reflection off the choppy water was blinding on the way out. This led to quite a bit of unexpected but convincing airtime on the way out. The wave-riding on the way in was good too with the wind in the perfect direction for some fast backside riding.

I had to go off to work so got off the water at around 3.15pm. Another guy who I hadn't met before was just rigging up a 5.5m sail and going out, so Joe stayed out as he now had someone else to sail with. (I'm sure Joe will post a report about the rest of the session in the forums). I then had trouble getting out of the car park. The padlock on the gate has been broken for a few days so I haven't been locking it. However, while I was out sailing someone else had come along and locked it and I couldn't get it open again. Loads of WD40 didn't do the trick nor did 'teasing' it with a sledge hammer. So it was back to the van to arm myself with a hacksaw and a crowbar and before long I tasted freedom again!
